Chicago Bulls Point Guard Lonzo Ball Faces Another Setback with Knee Injury

Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball is already out for the 2023/2024 season. Yet last March’s operation, unprecedented in the NBA, was a cartilage transplant that has not yet given the desired result. Obviously bad news for the franchise and for Nikola Vucevic, who remembers the games played with him.

“There was a lot of excitement and you could feel it,” he recalled on Yahoo Sports. “We fed on this, we started moving forward. As soon as we found the rhythm, everything went well. Lonzo was important. With our team he was above all a passer, involving everyone. With his defense and shooting from him we could play a lot faster.”

At least there won’t be any uncertainties like last year: “At first, six weeks without him, then eight, then we talked about January and finally maybe the playoffs. It was complicated for us, because we didn’t expect it. At least now we know that there won’t be. We have new players after good signings that will help us. It’s up to us players to find solutions to improve.”

However, Nikola Vucevic obviously has a thought for Lonzo Ball who hasn’t played since January 2022 and has had three knee operations since then: “We feel sorry for him, he’s a very good player. Having to manage all this is really complicated. It’s very positive. he’s always looking for ways to get back on the pitch. A lot of people don’t see him, they don’t see his rehabilitation, all the things he’s doing to get back. Injuries really are the worst thing for a player. Careers, even if they’re longer today , stay short, and two and a half years are nothing to him.”
