MANILA (Reuters) – Canada and Germany advanced to the semi-finals of the Men’s Basketball World Cup, co-hosted by Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia, in Manila on Thursday.

Canada, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the NBA Thunder and RJ Barrett of the Knicks, will face Slovenia, who has Luka Doncic of the Mavericks. After a 50-50 tie in the second quarter, Canada set the pace in the third and fourth quarters to win 100-89.

Germany beat Latvia 81-79 in another match. Latvia, making its first appearance in the tournament, showed an outstanding performance so far, winning against Brazil, France, and defending champion Spain, but was eliminated here.

In the semi-finals, Canada will face Serbia and Germany will face the United States.
