Cactus Sweeps Brock in Eight-Round Playoff Thriller

Central fans were once again treated to a hotly contested duel on Friday evening in Drummondville, as the Victoriaville Cactus defeated the Brock 2-1 in eight rounds of play. This victory allowed the Cactus to sweep the Brock and advance to the next round in the playoffs in the Quebec Major Baseball League.

The Cactus only allowed five points in four outings during the series. Friday, Mathieu Massicotte worked two innings, while Pierre-Olivier Marcoux and Josué Peley each pitched three innings to achieve the victory for the visitors. The gain was credited to Peley’s record.

In the Brock camp, Japanese left-hander Ryo Kohigashi was again effective. He pitched a complete game. He allowed six hits and just one earned run. He had nine strikeouts. The Brock defense committed four errors and the offense produced only three hits.

In this battle of the 122, the Cactus scored wins of 2-1, 3-2, 5-1 and 2-1. He will have to wait for the outcome of the other series to find out his next opponent.
