While the actor and his wife Jessica were sleeping, burglars broke into their house. For Elyas M’Barek, it was a “traumatic experience,” as he describes it.
Elyas M’Barek’s primary residence is now in New York, but the “Fuck ju Göhte” star also owns a house in Ibiza. The actor experienced a horror night there a few months ago, as he now recounts in the “Enter Sandman” podcast. His home was broken into while he and his wife Jessica were sleeping.
“I wake up at night – and suddenly the bedroom door opens,” says the 41-year-old. At first he didn’t understand the situation at all, but then he realized: “That’s not my wife. Totally sleepy, I say ‘Hello’ – and the door closes again. It was such a nightmare.”
Elyas M’Barek then jumped up, “grabbed a knife in the kitchen” and then called the police “because I knew there was someone there.” On the way through his house, he noticed that a side door had been broken open. The actor further describes the incident in the podcast as a “really traumatic experience.”
Burglars tried a second time
Fortunately, the burglar or burglars only stole a little cash from the film star’s wallet. Other valuable items such as credit cards contained in the wallet or Elyas M’Barek’s laptop were still there. The incident was a lesson to him: While the 41-year-old used to deactivate the alarm system installed in the house when he was on site, he now always leaves it on at night.
Incidentally, the brazen burglars returned just three days later – after Elyas M’Barek’s departure – and tried to break into his house again. Due to the increased security precautions, this time too without success.
