The member of the Executive Council of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF), Carlos Manta, defined himself as a “Peñarol supporter”, explained the departure of several officials linked to the national team since the arrival of Bielsa and the conflict that is being experienced in the local football.

Manta, interviewed in Last to the goal (Sport 8.90 AM), was consulted about the departure of the mayor of the Celeste Complex, canchero, doctor and video analysts since the arrival of the Argentine coach to the Celeste: “Bielsa is a very intense person to work with, he is active for ten to twelve hours. “That intensity is transmitted to the employees, who were not used to that.”

“What they do is present their resignation because they do not agree with the form of demands that Bielsa sets,” he said later, and continued: “It’s not that I tell them ‘go away’, they can’t keep up with him.”

And he explained his opinion in particular: “I am very respectful of giving the responsibility and the right to the person in charge, as long as it does not cross the line of respect and that type of thing.”

Manta, who had several sparks with the Aurinegro leaders in recent times, was asked if he greeted the club on its birthday on Thursday: “Yes, I am a Peñarol supporter.”

“Maybe they tell me everything,” he mentioned, and explained the exchange with Gonzalo Moratorio who, through social networks, accused him of having told him that the golden entity “is from the year 1913” in a meeting at the AUF.

“I never said anything and [Ignacio] Alonso [presidente de la AUF]
is a witness. I said a joke that maybe Plaza Colonia could be more historic and it was misinterpreted,” she stated.

In reference to the imminent return of football after the agreement that will be negotiated through the Association, between clubs and Mutual, he expressed: “There will not be peace, but there will be a truce. I am in favor of the fact that while it lasts we must worry about the profound things that Uruguayan football has. The unemployment thing is something to put a band-aid on, but there is a much deeper wound that we have to solve. “That is my goal.”

“I told Alonso that we have to continue insisting on getting a professional league that gives us, at least, the possibility of not paying to play as happens today and that destroys a lot of things,” he added.

And he said in reference to the professional league promoted by the Union of Clubs: “We must understand that we are not against it, but against this one in particular, which was put together with special interests on which we do not agree. The SAD group [Sociedades Anónimas Deportivas] plus some institutions, we want one where we are better represented and that all 30 of us agree, not 15 on one side and 15 on the other. “We want everyone to have the same guarantees, for example, a joint business plan, which has not been presented until now.”

“Television rights must have the guarantee to obtain the highest bidder that benefits all institutions. Also that the authorities are shared by all the clubs and not by half of them,” he concluded.
