Tibo Vyvey and Niels Van Zandweghe only kept a Polish duo behind them in the race over 2,000 meters. They finished in 6’55″95, more than fourteen seconds behind Irish winners and Tokyo Olympic champions McCarthy-O’Donovan.
The Belgian duo clocked the tenth time of the semi-finalists. In the B-final for places 7 to 12 they will compete against duos from Mexico, Poland, China, New Zealand and Germany.
The Belgians will start in the B-final on Saturday. If they win it, and thus finish seventh, they will still get a ticket for the Olympic Games.
