Belgian Judo Champions Secure Qualification for Paris Games

Entered in -48 kg, Ellen (26 years old/n°33) beat the Spaniard Antona (21 years old/n°50) in the final. Previously, she had dismissed the German Grau (22 years old/nc), then another Spaniard, Salvaldor (22 years old/n°110), who had herself eliminated Jente Verstraeten in the previous round.

After a very complicated start to the season with eliminations in the first round in Almada, Tel Aviv, Tbilisi and Doha, Ellen had decided to… step back to jump better, that is to say to engage in less challenging tournaments to regain trust.

Ellen Salens was coached by Udo Quellmalz, former Olympic champion, very proud of his student.

This is how she lined up in Tallinn and Lima in July, where she won two medals, silver and gold. After a short break, she returned to training in August and competition in September.

With success. The 26-year-old Flandrienne is back in the game…

Still in -48 kg, Jente Verstraeten was much less happy since she lost to the Spaniard Salvador, then in the repechage against… the German Grau.

In -63 kg, Alessia Corrao (21 years old/n°100) was unfortunately eliminated in her first fight against the German Ricken.
