FC Bayern will play its opening game in the new basketball season on an LED glass floor. This should open up new possibilities. But there are a few things that need to be taken into account during construction.
At the start of the Basketball Bundesliga, FC Bayern Munich is coming up with something special this Friday (8 p.m. on DYN): against Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels, the playing field itself will become a screen. World champions Andreas Obst, Niels Giffey and Isaac Bonga will play on a glass floor, with screens underneath that will show the usual lines and sponsor logos during the game, but will also be used differently during breaks.
It will be the first time that the floor developed by ASB Glassfloor from Stein an der Traun in Bavaria will be used in a basketball league. It was previously used in the final games of the U-19 Women’s World Cup in Madrid in July. The players were introduced on the screen before the start of the game, after which it was used effectively, especially at the award ceremony. Hall lights and the huge display in the middle were coordinated, the flags of the winning team illuminated the otherwise darkened hall. Half basketball hall, half cinema hall.
