Bahia Tennis Player Guido Pella Announces Retirement After 16 Seasons on ATP Circuit

Bahia tennis player Guido Pella announced through his social networks his farewell to professional tennis, after sixteen seasons on the ATP circuit.

The 33-year-old left-hander from Buenos Aires remarked today that “with an enormous mix of sensations and a very great relief I decided to put an end to my career as a professional tennis player.”

“It was an incredible trip with many beautiful things that allowed me to experience moments that not everyone can,” said Pella, who was ranked 189th in the international rankings, at the time of saying goodbye.

“I want to thank my family who were always with me and who supported me so that I could reach the United States Open as healthy as possible, since they knew it was going to be my last tournament,” said the man from Bahia, who later expanded: “I also want Thank you to my friends on the circuit (you know who you are) and my Davis Cup teammates, who made me live incredible moments.”

“I also thank the people who always supported me at all times, who took the time to leave me a message, especially during difficult moments in my career. And as the person I admire most in life says, ‘all our dreams can become reality, if you have the courage to pursue them.’ I think I was able to accomplish almost everything I set out to do in tennis and now it will be time to look for them elsewhere,” she said.
The left-hander from Bahia won an ATP title as a professional, in San Pablo 2019, and played in four other finals in which he was defeated: Rio de Janeiro 2016, Munich 2017, Umag 2018 and Córdoba 2019.

His best historical position in the world ranking was 20th. Posted, in five weeks of 2019: two in August and another three in October of that year.
