We are talking about “one of the biggest projects that have been carried out in the world of badminton at a national level”, they say from the Club Deportivo Bádminton Valladolid and in which they have been working for months in the distance and, more recently in August face-to-face, “for the creation of a project to promote and develop badminton and other healthy habits throughout the country of The Gambia.”

So, for 18 days, David Bocos, Marina Rodríguez and Ana Sanz, members of the club, together with a great last-minute “signing”, María Saenz, the group’s doctor, enjoyed the experience of sharing healthy habits in the Kunkujang region (Gambia) of the hand of the NGO Caminos Cruzados. “Quite a challenge, but with all the enthusiasm of those who want something real,” they assure this newspaper. Although the promotion and development of the sports program and healthy habits was the main work carried out, it was by no means the only contribution in the African country. “We didn’t have time to get bored”, They affirm from the club, that they are clear that “it is probably the biggest challenge of the club to date and the sensations could not have been better”.

The project

Thus, with the agreement with the Gambia Badminton Federation, it will be possible to carry out training for technicians in person and remotely, with online support with didactic content. There will also be a workshop and training for the repair of material and oral hygiene workshops. Anthropometric studies will be carried out to assess child malnutrition in the area with a daily medical service. Likewise, there will be science classes for adolescents in the area and to be able to supply the Kachume school with school supplies and desks.
