Atalanta wins in Sturm group, LASK opponents draw

Atalanta Bergamo is the first leader in Group D of the Europa League. The northern Italians defeated the Polish champions Rakow Czestochowa, Sturm Graz’s next opponent on October 5th, 2-0 (0-0) on Thursday. In LASK Group E, the Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise and Toulouse shared the points with a 1-1 (0-1).

Atalanta lived up to its role as favorite in the home game. The Belgian Charles De Ketelaere (49th) and the Brazilian Ederson (66th) shot coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s team to victory four minutes after he came on.

In Anderlecht, Toulouse took the lead through Thijs Dallinga with a penalty (45th + 3), and Mohamed Amoura (69th) equalized for Saint-Gilloise. Logan Costa received a yellow-red card in stoppage time (94′) for the French Cup winners, meaning the central defender will be suspended for the second group game against LASK on October 5th.
