Arthur Fils lined up for the first time in the Davis Cup against Great Britain

Sébastien Grosjean did not renew the same composition as against Switzerland (3-0) and Australia (1-2). The captain of the French Davis Cup team decided to start Arthur Fils in singles on Sunday against Great Britain in Manchester.

The 19-year-old from Essonne, 44th in the world and selected for the first time this week, will play his first match in the Davis Cup against Dan Evans (25th), from 2 p.m. (live on L’Équipe live) in front of more of 13,000 people. He trained on Saturday morning at the AO Arena while his teammates hit the ball at the other complex, at the Manchester Tennis and Football Centre.

Adrian Mannarino not aligned

Ugo Humbert (36th) will then face Cameron Norrie (17th). Adrian Mannarino, winner of his two singles against Dominic Stricker and Max Purcell, was not chosen. The 34th in the world has been struggling with his adductors since the US Open.

In doubles, Nicolas Mahut and Édouard Roger-Vasselin should be opposed to Dan Evans and Neal Skupski (3rd in the world), who like the French, lost against the Australians but dominated the Swiss. Lineups can be changed up to 15 minutes before the start of the doubles.

Australia having qualified for the final phase on Saturday after its success (3-0) against Switzerland, Great Britain and France will compete for the last ticket for the “Final 8” (November 21-26). The team that wins on Sunday will go further, the other will be eliminated.
