Finnish national team center player Aleksandrs Madsens is returning to the Latvian championship basketball team “VEF Rīga”, informs the Riga club.
This will be Madsen’s fourth season in “VEF Riga”, previously he played in the team from 2019 to 2022. In 2022, Madsen was recognized as the most valuable player of the Latvian Basketball Užava Cup. In its last season, “VEF Riga” is in the ranks of 2021/2022. Madsen averaged 9.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2 assists per game in the Basketball Champions League.
Last season, Madsen represented one of Greece’s strongest teams, AEK Athens, where he averaged 6.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
This summer, Madsen represented Finland in the FIBA World Cup, where he averaged 6.6 points and 2.4 rebounds. It was previously reported that the Puerto Rico national team player Aizeja Piñeiro will represent “VEF Riga” again next season.
