Anderlecht extends collaboration with Brian Riemer: Dane remains coach until 2026 | Jupiler Pro League

It didn’t seem like it would be the best birthday for Brian Riemer on Friday. At the press moment in the run-up to the match against Club Brugge, the Dane had to tackle many difficult questions about the tricky goalkeeper issue at Anderlecht and the weak play in the match against Kortrijk.

After the ceremonies there was time for a piece of cake, and Anderlecht spiced up the party with a great birthday present: a contract extension. Riemer, whose contract expired this season, will sign in Brussels until 2026.

This contract extension is not unexpected. Riemer is considered by his compatriot and Sports CEO Jesper Fredberg to be a crucial pawn in Anderlecht’s reconstruction plan. However, the Dane led the club to a historically poor 11th place in the Jupiler Pro League last year.

This season Anderlecht, which bought heavily in the summer mercato, got off to a good start. It is currently second in the standings, with 14 out of 21. There was again some criticism from the Anderlecht supporters about the game delivered, also against Riemers.

“As a club, we are developing a project in which stability and continuity are important. We know where we want to go with Brian and it is also important to provide clarity about the near future,” RSCA writes in a statement.

“We appreciate Brian’s hard work and his commitment to this club and we want to continue to build together to get this team and this club back where it should be.”

“I am happy with the club’s confidence,” Riemer himself responds. “We are only at the beginning of a process in which we will improve the team step by step and we have a clear vision of where we want to go. I can’t wait to take the next steps with this team and this club.”
