Alek Manoah’s nightmare season is officially over.
According to what the Sportsnet network reports, the Blue Jays pitcher received numerous injections in his right arm and he will no longer pitch in 2023.
The right-hander was demoted to the AAA level on August 11, but he did not immediately join the team.
Manoah’s last appearance on the mound dates back to August 10. He then allowed four earned runs and four hits in as many innings of work, in a loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
After being in the running for the Cy-Young Trophy in 2022, the Blue Jays pitcher saw his career derailed this season.
He finishes 2023 with a dismal record of three wins against nine losses, in addition to posting a very high earned run average at 5.87.
