‘Ajax wants to bring Brazilian midfielder to Amsterdam in the winter’

Ajax wants to make an offer for Kauan Santos in the winter transfer window, according to reports in Brazil. According to journalist Diego Firmino, among others, the nineteen-year-old midfielder from Palmeiras is in the picture in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Santos, who has not yet made his debut in the main squad of the Brazilian club, is still at the Allianz Parque until January 2025. Firmino does not write anything about the size of Ajax’s possible offer.
Santos currently plays his matches in the CBF Brasileiro U20, in which the promising teams of Brazilian clubs compete against each other. Palmeiras is currently at the top of a group that includes Santos, Grêmio and São Paulo FC. A right-footed central midfielder, Santos has made 32 appearances for Palmeiras Under 20s so far, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. At 1.65 m, he is not a tall and physically strong controller, but above all a technically gifted playmaker. Given his profile, it seems that Santos would initially be a reinforcement for Young Ajax.
Last year, Ajax showed interest in two talents from Palmeiras, who have now earned the Brazilian club a lot of money. Nineteen-year-old attacker Giovani surprised friend and foe by signing with Al-Sadd FC in Qatar, while the 22-year-old midfielder transferred to the English Nottingham Forest for no less than 20 million euros this summer.
