A rower dedicates his victory to the ETA prisoners and Otegi applauded him

The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegiand Sortu are receiving strong criticism from representatives of the PNV, PSE, Elkarrekin Podemos and groups of victims of terrorism for echoing and applauding that the Urdaibai rower Iñaki Goikoetxea dedicate his victory this Sunday on the Bandera de la Concha to the ETA prisoners.

The controversy has taken place on the social network Taberhe told Basque public television ETB at the end of the regatta.

The rower, as he did last year, dedicated the victory in this test – the most important in the Cantabrian Sea – to the ETA prisoners and “especially to Iurgi” with the wish that next year “they will be home.” , in reference to the ETA murderer Iurgi Garitagoitiawho was sentenced to 44 years in prison for collaborating in the murder of businessman Ignacio Uría in December 2008.

Sortu, an independence party legalized in 2012 by the Constitutional Court, has also written a post on X ensuring that Tabero belongs to the people, and has sent a message to bring home all the Basque prisoners.

The Bermeo team won the Bandera de La Concha 2023 men’s category this Sunday after winning the second day. After the victory, and as happened last year, one of its rowers assured that “not all of us are there” and sent “a big hug for those who are not among us, especially for Iurgi“Let’s see if everyone is home next year,” he added.
