Perseverance sometimes takes you to the end of your dreams. At the start of summer, the tennis player from Locminé, Nadège Laudrin, at the age of 41, set foot on the clay court of Roland-Garros for the first time.

Finalist in the Brittany championship for over 40s, she qualified for the French championship. A superb reward for the one who has just reached her best ranking since her debut when she was only 10 years old!

At Roland Garros

At Roland-Garros, Nadège will reach the quarter-finals, after a marathon match of 2 hours 37 minutes.

I’m really satisfied, because afterwards, I lost to the future French champion. I managed to play well while ignoring the emblematic place, but there is nothing to say: she was stronger than me.

The one who lives in Bignan will therefore keep very good memories of this superb adventure and already swears that she will try to come back next year!

Because what characterizes this sports teacher (in Pontivy) is her longevity. At 41, Nadège Lautrin has perhaps never hit the little yellow ball so well. “I won multiple tournaments when I was younger, but I reached my best ranking at the end of last year.”

Experience certainly gives him more confidence on the court today. “I like having to think during matches to find the fault in the opponent. I also like the fact that I always have to find solutions even on days when I’m not playing well.”

At 10 years old… by chance

And to think that the discovery of tennis came to her by chance… “I was 10 years old and my parents wanted me to play sport. There was an initiation during the summer next to the house. I went there ; I liked it and the teacher that day directed me towards the Locminé club,” says the one who spent a lot of time around the football fields because of her father, a former CS Bignan player.

She studied there (in Locminé) before being forced to go into professional exile in the Paris region (Maisons-Laffite). But he ended up returning to his favorite club 3 years ago.

Today, she continues to enjoy training. “I play twice a week and for 2 years now, we have also had physical training put in place by the club.” Not to mention the two weekly badminton sessions that she practices for leisure. And without forgetting the supervision she provides at the club for children aged 4 to 6 years old.

“I haven’t set a limit for myself”

“As long as I have fun and my body leaves me alone, there is no reason for me to stop,” says Nadège, who also continues to set goals. “I will participate in multi-chance tournaments in October and also do the +35 years championship with the Locminé club. Then, it will be calmer during the winter period, the goal being to arrive in good shape for the Locminé tournament, the Pre-National team championship and the second series individual championships.”

No, nothing will stop him. “I didn’t set a limit for myself.” And if Nadège knows that her strong point is the mind – “I never give up” – she still finds motivation in always wanting to improve. “There are still a lot of things to work on, whether it be forward play, varying my trajectories or even my serve.”

You would have understood it. After the forties, we certainly haven’t stopped hearing about Nadège Laudrin on the tennis courts.
