2nd League Pauli conquers the top of the table – Hannover continues to win

FC St. Pauli wins their difficult away game at Hertha BSC and is rewarded with first place. Hannover 96 is on a roll and is establishing itself among the favorites for promotion.
FC St. Pauli has taken the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Hanseatic League beat first division relegated Hertha BSC 2-1 (1-0) on Saturday evening and climbed to first place thanks to their third win in a row.
The goals for the guests in front of 66,113 spectators in the Berlin Olympic Stadium were scored by Johannes Eggestein (25th minute) and Marcel Hartel (74th). Hertha joker Derry Scherhant (83′) only scored the goal.
Pauli’s first pursuer is city rivals Hamburger SV, with the same points, who temporarily took over the top position on Friday with a 1-0 win in the top game against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Hanover remains on the road to success
Hannover 96 is also on the road to success; the Lower Saxony team have picked up ten points from the last four games with a 2-0 (1-0) win against Wehen Wiesbaden. Havard Nielsen (11th minute) and Derrick Köhn (74th) secured the victory against the promoted team, who had to play against RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup (2:3) on Wednesday evening.
The form curve at Karlsruher SC shows exactly the opposite direction to that of the Hanoverians, who are increasingly being counted among the favorites for promotion to the Bundesliga. The KSC’s 0:2 (0:2) on Saturday in the home game against Holstein Kiel was the KSC’s fourth game without a win in a row. 14th place in the table instead of a promotion fight for the Baden team, where goalkeeper Patrick Drewes parried a hand penalty from Steven Skrzybski (35th) on Saturday and prevented a higher defeat.
Late goal for Braunschweig
Eintracht Braunschweig also couldn’t end its winless streak of five games in a row on Saturday and also lost 0-1 (0-0) at Hansa Rostock due to Jasper van der Werff’s late goal (87th). Braunschweig remains second to last in the table for the time being, two points behind FC Schalke 04.
Bundesliga relegated Schalke is still in a downward spiral after parting ways with head coach Thomas Reis. On Friday evening the team lost 1:3 (0:0) at SC Paderborn and once again showed a very poor performance. Instead of playing for promotion, Schalke remains stuck deep in the table cellar.
