Lübeck – The preparations for the city derby between 1. FC Phoenix and VfB Luebeck next Wednesday run on the part of the hosts. The game will be played at the Buniamshof stadium, where the quarter-finals will take place on Wednesday at 6 p.m national cup is discharged. The encounter was only supposed to start half an hour earlier and was now put on the sixth stroke. The reason for this is the authorities, who refused to initiate it later. The Adlerträger would have started later, also to avoid a programmed traffic chaos. The tickets are selling like hot cakes. Almost 600 tickets were gone for the Green-Whites by Tuesday evening, and around 800 for Travemünder Allee. A total of 2,200 spectators are allowed into the stadium. The Phönixer told HL-SPORTS that the box office would be opened. That shouldn’t be the case at first. The stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m.

Traffic chaos around the “Buni”

It’s likely to be tight around the “Buni”, because the lane on Possehlstraße in the direction of Holstentorplatz will be closed from the Lachenwehrallee to the zebra crossing between the stadium and Wallstraße. The parking lane on the affected side of the street and the footpath and cycle path around half the “Buni” between the zebra crossing and the cabin area will also be closed. Parking spaces are scarce anyway. However, there are options at the employment office and the MUK. Then there are the other construction sites and bottlenecks in the city… Arriving by public transport is therefore recommended.

“Anything else but a victory for VfB would be a very big surprise”

From a sporting point of view, the Adlerträger have a great opportunity to reach the semi-finals against Eichholzer SV. VfB is running on the gums in terms of personnel and the “underdog” from the airport is in second place in the regional league. It runs at Christiano Dinalo Adigo and his team very well. But the 51-year-old sees his “family” as an absolute outsider. “Anything other than a victory for VfB would be a very big surprise,” he says to HL-SPORTS.

loyal to the line

Monday was trained once. Tuesday and Wednesday there is also one unit each. At the same time, Adigo will not change its system of “hooray football”. “Anyone who knows me knows that I stay true to my line,” he says.

Adigo confident

The Phönix coach knows about the opponent: “VfB Lübeck is very disciplined, comes from a solid team performance and has a lot of experience. This is a team that plays in the 3rd league, that’s quite a number. A lot has to fit, even if we don’t want to hide and advance one lap. But I’m very confident that we can do it.” And further: “We want to inspire the spectators. They spend their hard-earned money on tickets and want to watch attractive football. I’m not the kind of coach who lets you stonewall. My concept is simple football with activities forward and being brave. My philosophy is that when the spectators come to the stadium, they should know what they’re getting. That doesn’t always work, because the opponent has a word to say.”

VfB can “embarrass themselves”

Adigo says: “VfB didn’t have a good day against Ulm, as I read. It’s difficult to say which weaknesses or strengths we can expect from the opponent on Wednesday. These are professionals and they have performed very well in the 3rd division so far. The ball is in their hands and if they don’t get ahead, it would not only be a huge surprise, but embarrassing. They will do everything they can to make life difficult for us. We want to stand up to it and we will see what that will be enough for.”

Most recently against Oldenburg

There was no special analysis. “Watch back and forth, day X is always crucial,” says Adigo. He last watched a VfB game live in preparation at the Lohmühle, during a friendly against VfB Oldenburg.

Hosts want to inspire everyone

The spectators should certainly be colored more green and white. This is not a problem for the Phoenix trainer. He says: “The more fans of VfB Lübeck there are, the greater the pressure on them. Maybe we can even offer some of our football to one or the other. If we play well, maybe even the hearts of the VfB supporters could beat faster.”

“No fanfare”

There will be no Zampano. “We don’t make a fuss. It’s a football game, nothing more, nothing less. There’s definitely a winner this time because it’s a cup. It goes straight to penalties, without overtime. The gentlemen in the association thought something of doing it this way. I don’t know the background to why it’s being done this way. Football is football and cannot be reinvented,” says Adigo.

Kraev is absent

Captain Haris Hyseni has a question mark. “He’s not quite fit yet. We have to look from day to day,” reveals his coach. Luis Riedel is also unclear. Vladyslav Kraev (knee) and Jonathan Stöver (calf) will definitely be out.
