Without a coach – Sport – SZ.de

Tennis player Jule Niemeier will no longer work with coach Christopher Kas after the recent sporting setbacks. This was confirmed by manager Michael Geserer of the German Press Agency at the US Open in New York and later by Niemeier himself on social media. The 24-year-old failed in the first round of qualifying for the last Grand Slam tournament. “After 1.5 years I have decided to separate from Christopher Kas. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all the guidance, support and inspiration he has given me during our time together” announced Niemeier. The cooperation had “a lasting influence” on her.

After the decision, Niemeier and Kas traveled back to Germany together. According to Geserer, the 24-year-old will continue to train at the BeTennisBase Academy in Regensburg. In September, Niemeier will complete tournaments in Japan and China. The successor to Kas should be settled as long-term as possible.

With the former professional at her side, the Dortmund native reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last year as the greatest success of her career so far. This year, however, there were no good results. After the US Open, Niemeier will no longer be among the top 130 in the world rankings.
