The player who made the most buzz in this story? Obviously, Gael Monfils, who complained about this smell in the middle of a match, to the referee. “It smells strong there, right?“he asked with a smile, mimicking the gesture of someone smoking, obviously causing the hilarity of the spectators present.
In a post-match press conference, the Greek Maria Sakkari also complained of this famous mystery smell, explaining that there was a park behind the court and that the players did not know how to do much.
Alexander Zverev gave him a funny comparison. “I only played it once but it smelled like Snoop Dogg’s living room.”
