Volleyball School Takes to the Tent for a Memorable Training Camp

Stay under the tent for volleyball.

Twenty-eight children from the volleyball school completed an internship in Quillan. It was the 3rd edition of this very special course which seems to be anchored more and more in the practices of the Roubian club each year. “It aims to offer volleyball players a pleasant stay in the tent, to get out of habits and above all to create an atmosphere which, it has been proven, lasts throughout the season. The mixing of teenagers from 13 to 18 years old, boys and girls, experienced or beginner volleyball players, generates cross-functional relationships that are rarely possible during the season. It also aims to prepare for the new season”, explains Philippe Rivier.

Thus, accommodated at the campsite in the center of La Forge, these volleyball players were entitled to two daily volleyball sessions with alternating collective and individual training under the leadership of Benjamin Bernard, Pierrick Lochu and Alexandre Alsina.

Petanque, canoeing, grills and evenings

A busy and varied program because in addition to volleyball, the trainees were invited to practice other disciplines such as archery or petanque, led by Mr. Maurel, technical adviser to the French Petanque Federation for high Aude valley. It made it possible to discover this sport through games before organizing a small tournament won by Elsa and Lucie. The next day, it’s time for the quillathlon: running, swimming and archery. A team competition where everyone went to the end of themselves. Finally, to make the most of this whitewater sports centre, the little Roubianais went down the Aude over 9 km in a canoe. This stay was enhanced by swimming in Lake Saint-Bernard and a few laughs on the inflatable games. Grills and evenings will have completed these long days. The management team completed by Mareen Cadet and Philippe Rivier showed the greatest satisfaction to see a group that lives well together, always willing and in a good mood. Friday came too quickly, the parents were already there to pick up the trainees.

The club appreciated the participation of the town hall of Quillan which made its infrastructure available, the president of the petanque club for his welcome and all the staff of the center of La Forge for their kindness and their availability and more particularly Denis and Olivier. This stay was made accessible to the greatest number thanks to the assistance of the MSA within the framework of its program “growing up in rural areas”.

It will have left excellent memories and will undoubtedly be a great launch pad for the new season.
