Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Thui Ling is expected to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. If so, this will be her second chance to participate in the Olympic Games.

Ruan Cuiling wins women’s singles title at Vietnam Badminton Open
There are a total of 172 seats for the badminton event in the Paris Olympics, and 166 qualifications will be generated through the Olympic Points Competition. In addition, the host will get 1 place and 2 places for wild cards. Among them, there are 38 men’s singles, 38 women’s singles, and 16 pairs of men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
In terms of singles, 35 places for men and women will be awarded through the Olympic points competition ranking, including 34 Olympic points competition ranking qualifications and 1 intercontinental qualification.
If a NOC has at least 2 players ranked in the top 16, the NOC can get 2 full qualifications, and other NOCs can only get 1 qualification.
This ranking starts on May 1, 2023 and ends on April 28, 2024. On April 30, 2024, the list of players qualified for the Paris Olympics will be officially announced.
So far this year, Vietnam’s top seed in women’s badminton Nguyen Thui Ling has participated in three matches in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) format. Including the Chinese Taipei Open in June 2023 (2,750 points), the Canadian Open (5,040 points) and the US Open (3,850 points) in July 2023.
After participating in the above three events, Ruan Cuiling accumulated 11,640 points and is currently ranked 27th in the Paris rankings. She has a chance to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the future, Ruan Chuiling will still participate in more BWF competitions to accumulate points. Prior to this, Ruan Chuiling participated in the Tokyo Olympics.
