The Red Bull world champion filmed by a friend in the Aston Martin has committed a series of infringements in France

Max Verstappen over the edge. It’s fine on the track but not on the street. In the week of the resumption of F1 (this weekend the Dutch GP in Zandvoort) the world champion makes headlines for the infractions committed in a video posted on Instagram by a friend-collaborator, Mark Cox, who traveled with him on the Aston Martin supercar Valkyrie. It is a single-seater with covered wheels, designed by Adrian Newey and capable of exceeding 400 km/h. A fireball worth around 3 million euros.

In the images we see Verstappen driving in France, on a stretch of the A8 motorway, the one that leads from Menton to Provence. According to Nice-Matin, the Dutchman was near North Nice (he lives in Montecarlo) and in the Canta-Galet tunnel, heading towards Italy, he exceeded the limit of 90 km/h by far. In fact, the Valkyrie’s steering wheel computer indicated 124 km/h.

The episode has generated controversy, the problem for Verstappen will certainly not be paying the fine (in the area there was one of the many speed cameras placed on the A8) but responding to the fuss raised by the clip that immediately went viral.

The FIA, the highest body of motor sport that regulates F1, has been engaged for years in campaigns in favor of road safety. And such a commercial is an own goal for Max and for the whole movement. Also because, in addition to speeding, the Red Bull driver is accused of other violations: holding the wheel with one arm while fiddling with the digital display with the other, for example.
