An important agreement in order to lay the foundations for the development of Venezuelan basketball over the next four years was recently agreed upon by the president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB), Hanthony Coello and his counterpart from the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) Jorge Garbajosa.
It was during the week that has just ended that both managers met on Spanish soil and discussed significant aspects for the growth and strengthening of basketball in both nations, having as a fundamental point the training of coaches, coaches and referees, an aspect that has been consolidated With the passage of time, since the different editions since the end of the Professional Basketball League (LPB), such as the recent editions of the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB), various teams have had strategists and assistants from Spain.
This meeting was achieved thanks to the preparation that the Absolute National Basketball Team has been carrying out, on Spanish soil for its participation in the XIX World Cup to be held jointly in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia, between the 25th of this month and next September 10. It was officially known that both parties proposed to emphasize the work related to the sports preparation of the training categories and in this sense they promised to work together to provide better opportunities and resources to the young basketball promises, promoting equality and equitable development in both genders.
On the other hand, the implementation of the agreement will seek to reaffirm high-level training programs that will include specialized training, such as access to maximum performance facilities and quality competitions; as well as comprehensive support strategies that will address aspects such as nutrition, health and emotional well-being, “with the aim of ensuring a holistic and sustainable development of young athletes”.
The meeting between Hanthony Coello and Jorge Garbajosa reaffirmed the mutual interest that exists to achieve a close, fruitful and more dynamic collaboration between both National Federations, whose vision contemplates the development and evolution of basketball in all aspects and levels.
