Union St.Gilloise in Talks to Sign AA Gent’s Alessio Castro-Montes

It has been a very eventful transfer summer for Union, which has seen one strong holder leave after the other in recent months. However, that has hardly bothered the people of Brussels so far, because they have started well in the competition with a nine out of twelve and also took a big step towards the group stage of the Europa League with a 2-0 win against Lugano last week.

The many departures were therefore received quite silently. Union was very active on the transfer market this summer and has already signed ten new players. That seems to be supplemented to a full team, because there would be another high-profile transfer on the way.

Union hits Ghent

After all, according to Sacha Tavolieri, Union is still busy removing a strong holder from AA Gent. The clubs are fully negotiating a transfer from Alessio Castro-Montes, who is in his last year of contract with the Buffalos. The player himself has also set his sights on a departure and so Ghent is obliged to cooperate.

Replacement for Nieuwkoop

On Monday, the negotiations would enter a decisive phase. If it comes to an agreement, Ghent would eventually collect just under 2 million euros for the 26-year-old flank player. At Union, Castro-Montes should replace Bart Nieuwkoop, who recently managed to secure a sudden transfer to Feyenoord.
