U20 World Wrestling Championships Set to Begin in Amman, Jordan

Rome, 9 August 2023 – The U20 World Wrestling Championships will kick off on Monday 14 August and will continue until Sunday 20. Amman, the capital of Jordan, will host the international event, where 672 wrestlers will gather divided into three styles, freestyle, female and Greco-Roman.

Among the bluesAurora Russo, reigning U20 European champion in the 59 kg, Immacolata Danise (55 kg), Laura Godino (68 kg), Raul Caso, European U20 bronze in the 74 kg, and Gabriele Niccolini (86 kg) are ready to go. Our team, therefore, will fight in the women’s and freestyle.

The boys will be accompanied by the coaches Pietro Piscitelli, Michele Liuzzi, Igor Nencioni and Andrea Sorbello, as well as the referee Angela Giuffrida.

The tournament, as always, is organized in elimination days (including the semi-finals), whose category finals will be played the following day. The free style will open the dances, followed by the feminine and, in closing, by the Greco-Roman style.

The schedule of the Azzurrini’s qualifying rounds:

Tuesday 15 – Raul Caso (74) and Gabriele Niccolini (86)

Wednesday 16 – Immacolata Danise (55), Aurora Russo (59) and Laura Godino (68)

The elimination matches will start every day at 9:00 (Italian time). The semi-finals will be at 4.00pm, while the finals will be at 5.30pm-7.30pm.
