The explosion of a gas cylinder – as indicated by the first investigations – occurred inside a building in Soldano, in Val Crosia (Imperia). Two young twenty-five-year-old French nationals were slightly injured, while another 37-year-old Frenchman – the son of the owner of the apartment in which the explosion occurred – was pulled alive from the rubble by the firefighters. A dog was also pulled from the rubble.
All three were taken to the hospital in code red. The three young people, originally from Marseille, were in the second floor apartment for a party, while the residents of the first and third floors were away from home at the time of the explosion.
The 118 health personnel and the firefighters intervened on the spot and thanks to the help of the molecular dogs of the canine unit they were able to verify the number of people involved in the accident.
