Towers boss Willoughby: ‘Always aim to make playoffs’

After a season marked by a relegation battle in the Bundesliga, the Veolia Towers Hamburg have set themselves high goals. “We always want to be a team in the BBL that aims to play the playoffs,” said managing director Marvin Willoughby on Tuesday. In addition, he added with a view to the third participation in the Eurocup in a row: “And we also want this double burden, because we want to have top European teams here in the Hanseatic city.”

In addition, he added with a view to the third participation in the Eurocup in a row: “And we also want this double burden, because we want to have top European teams here in the Hanseatic city.”

In preparation, the Towers are playing seven friendly games, including games at Alba Berlin (September 3rd), against the Rostock Seawolves (September 8th) and at German champions Ratiopharm Ulm (September 16th). The season begins with the BBL cup game on 23/24. September with the ProA team Dresden Titans.

The first league game will follow on September 29 at the MHP giants in Ludwigsburg. New for the coming season is that the first six teams are directly qualified for the playoffs. The clubs that are ranked seventh to tenth at the end of the main round then play in three decider games for the other two playoff spots.
