Course of the Match

MU immediately pressed since the early minutes. Pedro Porro lost possession to Alejandro Garnacho, then teamed up with Antony. The last named player releases a shot towards the goal, but the ball still bounces.

Garnacho spread threats from the left flank. After taking a stab, Garnacho followed up with a right-foot shot although he had not yet tested goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Antony’s collaboration with Marcus Rashford was successful through Cristian Romero’s escort. Rashford tried to lift his shot, but Vicario was able to keep it out.

After that, MU’s promising attack was broken by Spurs. Rashford’s cross for Aaron Wan-Bissaka was passed to Garnacho. However, Romero made a crucial block near the byline.

MU’s best chance just came after 22 minutes. Bruno Fernandes’ collaboration with Garnacho ended with a gastric cross which Rashford headed from inside the penalty box. The ball is still hovering over the crossbar.

Tottenham’s dangerous counterattack three minutes later. Attacking on the left side of the MU defense, Dejan Kulusevski fired a curling shot. Andre Onana is still swift to secure.

MU claimed a penalty after Garnacho’s shot hit Pedro Porro’s hand. The handball incident was checked by VAR but MU finally only got a corner kick.

Another dangerous counter attack from Tottenham. Driven by James Maddison, Son Heung-min’s pass to Pepe Sarr was followed up with a first-time shot. Onana brushed off the ball, then blocked Sarr’s movement before he could grab a rebound.

MU wasted a golden opportunity in the 36th minute. Luke Shaw’s cross freed Bruno Fernandes from the offside trap. Unfortunately, Fernandes’ header in one-on-one situations failed to find the target.

Four minutes later, Tottenham made MU’s defense line twitch. Son’s pass was continued by Pedro Porro with a hard kick but the ball hit the crossbar. Then Sarr’s crossing ball, which turned after hitting Shaw, hit the MU goalpost.
