Three Young Fighters from AJOA to Represent France at World Jujitsu Championships

Three young people from the Alliance Judo Ouest Audois (AJOA) will represent France from Wednesday 23 August at the world jujitsu championships in Kazakhstan.

Three young people from the Carcassonne judo club (AJOA) will represent the city tomorrow, but also France at the world championships of jujitsu (a sport that derives from judo and whose objective is to submit the opponent by strangulation or key of joint) in Kazakhstan, in the capital Astana. Thus, Olympe Travain in the U16 category under 40 kg and bronze medalist at the European championships will open the competition for the three Carcassonnais this Wednesday, August 23. And Alan Gaspard in U18 under 55kg and vice world champion in 2022, as well as Egé Turan in U18 under 60 kg and vice champion of France will fight this Friday August 25.

The club would like to highlight their pride. “With a competition at the end of the summer, the preparation was not easy but the three athletes prepared as well as possible for the event”. In the company of their parents, these young people will also be accompanied by Estelle Gaspard, triple world champion since July. She took care of their summer preparation and will coach them on site.

After a busy season (the club has 160 members and several national results in judo and jujitsu) although complicated (for a year, training was done in a hangar), the leaders of the club “hope that this event will end the 2022/2023 season with panache and open the 2023/2024 season to better horizons”. The resumption of training will take place at the Cité des sports de Carcassonne, when it opens.
