Mischa Zverev is brother, manager and training partner of Alexander Zverev. A conversation about the second serve as a reflection of the soul, frustrating matches against Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem’s motivation problems. And he explains what exactly Novak Djoković is doing at 5: 5 in the fifth set.
Mr. Zverev, can you remember the day you lost to your little brother for the first time?
Mischa Zverev: Of course. That was in Australia in 2014. Sascha was 16 at the time, I was 26. I lost the training set 3:6.
As a big brother, that probably annoyed you immensely, didn’t it?
No not really. In a way I was even happy about it.
Because I knew it would happen eventually. If it had happened later it would have meant that I’m a really good player. But as soon as it happened, I knew that Sascha was really good. Two weeks later he won the junior competition at the Australian Open.
