The Queens of the Caribbean vs. Puerto Rico: Semifinal Matchup in Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup

The Queens of the Caribbean will face Puerto Rico this Saturday, starting at 8 pm, in one of the semifinals of the XX edition of the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup that takes place at the Juan Vicens Auditorium, in Ponce.

The Dominicans come from beating the Puerto Ricans in five disputed sets, in a clash that took place last Thursday. These sets ended 25-23; 25-13; 18-25; 23-25 ​​and 16-14.

In that game, the attack of the Queens was led by Brayelin Martínez, who scored 28 points, followed by Gaila González with 14 and Yonkaira Peña 10.

With that victory, the Dominicans finished with a 4-0 record, undefeated in group B.

The other semifinal will be held between the United States versus Argentina, in a match scheduled for 6:00 pm.

Other matches will be played by Mexico against Colombia at 2:00 in the afternoon, and two hours later will come the clash between Peru and Canada.

The Puerto Ricans were the last to reach a spot in the semifinals, after defeating Colombia three sets by two.

In the match against Colombia, Alondra Vázquez was the best scorer for Puerto Rico with 18 points, all in attacks; Dariana Hollinsgworth contributed 15 points, 14 kills and a direct service; Pilar Victoria with 12 points, all in attacks; and Paola Rojas with nine, three in blocks.
