While the honeymoon of the progressive government officially ends, with the resignation of Rita Consoli as councilor and deputy mayor, the Giunta Di Bernardo it has an internal anomaly that no one really explains. And even when it was explained, an attempt was made to minimize a very singular political datum.

When the Pompili – Trovalusci case emerged, to some extent revealed by a press release from the PD in which there was fear of a ‘change of the political axis’, the mayor, as a man skilled with words which he is, sidetracked the issue with a statement acrobatic: “The list referred to by the PD, We are Grottaferrata, is and remains civic and fully in the current majority Perhaps it is necessary to recall the democratic process that has brought us here. A participatory and center-left political project that identified its candidate for mayor through the primaries. A coalition that has subsequently been able to aggregate other civic forces in the area, who today support with conviction a shared mandate program, working to implement it and having the well-being of citizens as their only beacon of action. There has never been a political agreement on unambiguous support for candidates in supra-municipal electoral competitions, instead there is an agreement, a pact with the citizens, to carry out the mandate program with commitment”.
Yesterday’s statements were made by former councilor Mauro Tomboletti, a year ago aligned with Di Bernardo and today a critic, who stated in a note in this regard: “A chameleon-like administration, which in a very short time has undergone a metamorphosis from drive Kafka crazy. The administration’s turn to the right manifested itself when a civic list officially revealed its support for the Brothers of Italy, with the blessing of the Mayor at the presentation of candidates for the regional elections, radically changing the political framework”.
A problem, therefore, exists: Fratelli d’Italia is not a civic movement. It is the right that governs nationally and regionally. It may also be convenient to have sympathizers within the majority for a connection with the regional spheres, and it would also be a legitimate political strategy, but it remains a political fact. The local Brothers of Italy club and its current minority municipal councilor, Lorenzo Letta, have never spoken out on the matter. On the contrary.
Is there an explanation to all this? Of course not, because the local government’s unstated policy is probably to ignore it and move on. But it is no longer possible to do so in the aftermath of Rita Consoli’s resignation. If councilor Michele Mazza, a movement colleague of the former deputy mayor, will no longer be in the majority, the latter will find itself with reduced numbers, some more tension, and a paradoxical situation of being substantially supported by two councilors who sympathize with Fratelli of Italy.
The story of ‘civism’ in this case is not very convincing. There is a problem of political relevance. Unsolved, actually.
