Panicale (Perugia), 20 August 2023 – The Native Americans at Trasimeno after the success of the 2021 event: the breeding of bison by Massimiliano Gatti, a Panicale in the province of Perugia, will in fact once again host a Lakota Sioux delegation. The appointment is set for Sunday 10 September, starting at 10. An event with a profound meaning – between music, rituals and spirituality – included in the broad program of the event A dreamer 23 (September 4-30, 2023) which sees the meeting between Italian institutions and the members of the Lakota and Dakota Nation, organized by the cultural association Wambli Gleska with the Metropolitan City of Florence and the Unesco Club Florence. The day in the breeding farm in Umbria – entitled “La Nazione del Bisonte” – will see the participation of Moses Brings Plenty, native American actor of the TV series Yellowstone with Kevin Costner.
Moses was born and raised in the rPine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota: he is the spokesman and leader of the Lakota Nation, custodian of its traditional values. Together with the rest of the delegation, during the day, she will spend herself on communicating that sacred sense of life which is the foundation of the native culture. The location of the event is not accidental: the bison represents a key figure in the culture Lakota Sioux. And Massimiliano Gatti has created the only bison bison (American bison) farm in Italy. The day’s program includes a presentation by Massimiliano Gatti. Following singing with drum and invocation to the Nazione del Bisonte by Alessandro Martire, ambassador of the Rosebud Sioux tribe in Italy. It will then be the turn of the conference of Moses Brings Plenty, focused on the ancestral relationship between man-bison and man-horse in the Lakota culture. This will be followed by a demonstration of how horses were painted before a bison hunt. Space then for “Bow and arrows in the Lakota culture” by Alessandro Martire, Sergio Susani and Alessio Martella, with the presentation to the public of some artifacts and the demonstration of traditional shooting with ancient bows. There will therefore be a convivial moment based on bison burgers and chips. In the afternoon singing with the Lakota Sioux drum, presentation of the book “Women under the shawl” by Luigina Cossu, Anna Maria Secci and Giovanna di Filippo.
