The National University Judo Competition Brings Together Top Athletes from Chile

The competition organized by the National University Sports Federation (FENAUDE) will be held at the Pontificia U. Católica de Chile in Santiago, on August 25 and 26, an instance that brings together women and men competitors from all over Chile who are studying the higher education and and are part of the university selections.

Judo or the path to flexibility perfectly combines strength, combat tactics and technique in order to produce an integral development of the person to project his opponent to the ground until obtaining 100 points (IPPON).

This year, the local judokas have trained in the Miraflores Campus gym three days a week and since August they have intensified their training from Monday to Friday.

Camilo Rivera, a Civil Engineering student in Civil Works, who has been practicing high-performance judo for more than eight years and frequently participates in national competitions, comments on how they hope to approach this competition.

Similarly, the sensei Fernando Avendaño, 1st dan black belt from the German Judo Federation, talks about how the preparation and integration of the athletes into the UACh Judo Team was.
