The most important things at a glance

Who does BVB get? Can Eintracht Frankfurt make the successful mini upheaval? And with which team does Schalke want to get promoted again? These and many other questions will be answered in this transfer summer. At t-online there is an overview of the most important rumors and changes from Germany and the world.

Ex-Bayern player Bernat: Return to Germany?

Former Bayern defender Juan Bernat is said to have piqued the interest of Bundesliga clubs Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen. As the French sports newspaper “L’Équipe” reported on Monday evening, Bernat’s current employer Paris Saint-Germain is no longer planning with the 30-year-old.

Union and Leverkusen are said to be interested in a loan deal. Bernat moved from Munich to Paris in the summer of 2018 after winning the German championship four times with FC Bayern.

Chelsea complete Premier League record transfer

Moisés Caicedo’s English record move from Brighton and Hove Albion to Chelsea is perfect. As the London football cub announced on Monday evening, the 21-year-old midfielder has signed an eight-year contract with an option for a further year at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool FC, who, according to German coach Jürgen Klopp, had already reached an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion, are left empty-handed.

Nothing was officially announced about the transfer fee. Most recently, the portal “The Athletic” reported that Chelsea would pay 115 million pounds (around 133 million euros) including bonus payments to Brighton and Hove Albion. As a result, Caicedo is the most expensive signing in Premier League history.

Report: BVB interested in ex-Mainz striker

According to media reports, former Mainz player Jean-Philippe Mateta was targeted by Borussia Dortmund when looking for a beefy storm alternative. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the 26-year-old could be had by the English first division club Crystal Palace for eight million euros. The Frenchman scored 27 goals in 71 competitive games for FSV Mainz 05 between the summer of 2018 and January 2022 before moving to the London club for eleven million euros.

BVB coach Edin Terzic confirmed last week that the runners-up wanted to “keep their eyes and ears open” with regard to another offensive force. “And if you look at our attacking squad, we don’t have many players over 1.80 meters tall.”

Fix: Bayern’s dream goalkeeper switches to Real

As expected, Real Madrid won the race for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, beating record champions Bayern Munich. The 28-year-old Spaniard will join the Royals on loan until the end of the season, replacing first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian suffered a cruciate ligament rupture during training on Thursday.

Bayern had also sought a similar solution with Arrizabalaga due to the unclear situation of captain Manuel Neuer. “We were very close and wanted to present it today or tomorrow,” CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said on Sunday at the presentation of Harry Kane.

European champion before sensational change to Köpenick?

According to media reports, Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin is interested in long-time Italian international Leonardo Bonucci. Several Italian journalists reported on Sunday evening talks between the German Champions League participant, Bonucci’s club Juventus Turin and the player.

At Juve, the 36-year-old no longer plays a role in coach Massimiliano Allegri’s plans and was recently excluded from the squad. The 2021 European champion still has a valid contract with Juve until next summer and is reportedly open to a move to Berlin.
