The end of an era. The judo section of the Association Sportive Poudrerie Bergerac (Dordogne) is facing different changes at the same time. His trainer, Christian Barthélémy, has decided to retire after fifty years on the tatami.

In addition to the difficulties in finding a successor, the club must also soon take up residence in a new dojo, which will be built in the Louis-Delluc hall, in Picquecailloux, as part of the federation’s 1,000 dojos operation. Jean-Fabien Dijos, president of the ASPB Judo, speaks of a “real opportunity because it is an atypical project”.

50 licensees

The new place will be shared between two clubs in the city: Judo Bergerac and the ASPB. This novelty will not be a reality immediately: the club will make its comeback in its current premises, next to the blowing snow, but it will surely be the last here.

Today, the structure has some 50 licensees. He thus finds levels similar to what he knew before the Covid-19 pandemic, which had “reduced the number of members”, affirms the president.
