The best skaters in the world will gather in Marseille from September 1 to 3 for the 6th edition of the Red Bull Bowl Rippers. Qualifying starts this weekend.

At the beginning of September, Marseille will be “the place to be” for any skateboard enthusiast worthy of the name. For its 6th edition, the Red Bull Bowl Rippers is making a comeback. From September 1 to 3, the best riders in the world compete on the legendary Prado bowl. On this world-renowned spot, the international elite will already have a taste of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games…

The best skaters in the world at the rendezvous

In Marseille, you simply find the best in the discipline. Simply gold medalist in Tokyo, the Australian Keegan Palmer is in the game. Two-time X-Games gold medalist Alex Sorgent is his main rival for victory. Alessandro Mazara for Italy or Chris Gegson for the United States are there. On the French side, the blue-white-red colors are defended by Vincent Matheron. The Marseillais, at home, already has the advantage of the field and the applause meter.

On the women’s side, all eyes are on the young Briton Sky Brown. Considered the most promising skateboarder in history, she faces the elite of her discipline. A multiple Red Bull Bowl Rippers winner, Poppy Starr Olsen steps forward with confidence. We also find the Japanese Yurin Fuji or the Brazilian Yndiara Asp.

Amateurs in the fray

The format of the Red Bull Bowl Rippers is nervous and spectacular. After a 45-second solo run, the competitors compete at the same time in the bowl, chaining the tricks. Ahead of the pro competition, 30 amateurs will have the chance to express themselves in Marseille. 15 places are reserved for Marseille riders, who have their qualifying event the day before the weekend at the Prado. Before that, qualifying jam sessions will take place in three destinations across France. First on August 19 in Évian, on August 20 in Capbreton then on August 26 in Angers.
