School, studies, hockey: Selin Oruz has had to deal with a double burden since she was twelve years old. Now she is a national player and a doctor. How do both go together?
Recently Selin Oruz read a novel, something by Jojo Moyes. And at one of the courses before the European Hockey Championships, you could see her in the evening at the table with the parlor games. Enjoying something “non-medical” before falling asleep, not spending every free minute with transparencies and flashcards was an unusual luxury for Oruz, 26 years old. Since she had the third state examination in human medicine in her pocket, the years of stress of the double burden are over for the time being.
She hasn’t known any different since she was twelve years old. There was always school, then university and hockey. She was treated early on as an exceptional talent. And she still had to learn an instrument! She played in the state selection, in all U-national teams, she is one of the leading players of the German women. She also did her Abitur, grade: 1.1.
