Five and a half months ago, on March 3, he disappeared Bruno Astorre. Dem senator and regional secretary of the Democratic Party, very close to his family Roman castles (was originally from Colonnalived for years a Frascati), Astorre has left not only a human vacuum – public and above all private – but also a political vacuum on its territory.
The designated heir, probably unique because you don’t really notice other non-communal councilors, Daniele Leodori, inherited the regional secretariat of the Democratic Party from Astorre, also avoiding – one might say that it was a wise choice – defeat as candidate for president of the Lazio Region. Defeat which ended up on the shoulders of Alessio D’Amato last February.
But Leodori is not Astorre and above all the territorial policy as understood by the Senator from Colonna – albeit always married to the former mayor of Zagarolo – is not easy or trivial to apply. Nor, above all, in fashion despite the absolute relevance it should have.
Mostly in difficult moments for the centre-left and the Pd in particular like the current ones: the economic situation adverse to the dem-led alignment, with the national government firmly in the hands of Giorgia Melonithe regional one in those of Francesco Rocca and the two resounding defeats remedied in the only two administrative elections staged in the spring (Rocca di Papa, victory of Massimiliano Calcagni; Velletri, victory of Ascanio Cascella).
In short, there was no worst time to shoulder a local Castellano Pd. Especially since there are not many friendly Administrations left: there is Frascatithere is Mount Compatrithere is partially Rocca Priorathere is Colonna and there is Ciampino. On the Albanian side there are also Albano Laziale, Castel Gandolfo and Genzano. Grottaferrata it is in the middle: towards the centre-left ideally, further to the right effectively.
Above all, however, there is a Democratic party which in the Castelli – especially on the Tusculan side – has grown in recent years in the image and likeness of Astorre. And, even more, it has grown by betting everything on a small group of people – militant activists – who have always been the same. For years. And that today they find themselves in the difficulty of affirming their own value without their creator.
We will already see the effects of Leodori’s work in the coming months with the certainty that in any case the former mayor of Zagarolo is not Astorre (although he has long been the dolphin) and that, above all, for Leodori the Castles are not the barycentric his political action.
Which creates some problems.
