Test Events for 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics Cause Traffic Disruptions and Restrictions in the City

One year from Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris. it’s time to test the sites that will host the events. from August 16 to 20, Paris is hosting the triathlon and para-triathlon World Cups, as well as the archery events at Les Invalides. Several traffic disruptions are to be expected.

The test events scheduled until August 20

August 17 to 20, 2023 : test of proofs of triathlon and para-triathlon in the Seine and on the road. Athletes can be seen on the courses from 8:15 a.m. on August 17, 18, 19 and 20. August 19 and 20, 2023: test of proofs of archery with the Archery World Cup, on the Esplanade des Invalides. Competition and entertainment, on site, by reservation.

What disturbances?

Two perimeters will be installed around the competition venues: one red and one blue. The first (red) indicates a traffic ban, on August 16, 19 and 20 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on August 17 and 18 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Only residents, pedestrians and cyclists will be able to access it, on presentation of proof.

The second zone (blue) corresponds to the diversions activated on the morning of August 17 and 18, during the events. Within this scope, the pedestrian traffic will be maintained. Some bus routes will be diverted. The metros will operate normally, but some accesses may be closed.

Regarding the Seine, navigation will be stopped August 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 18 and 20, 2023 from 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. and August 19, 2023 from 2 a.m. to noon.

If you live in the 1st, 7th or 8th arrondissement of Paris, an information brochure will be distributed in 20,000 mailboxes to summarize the restrictions. A newsletter is also created to inform and facilitate the organization of people living or working in the capital. Registrations are open, and the first emails will arrive in the fall of 2023.
