Tennis club Brakel has been using pickleball since this summer. This racket sport comes over from the United States and has been gaining popularity in our country for several years now.
“In collaboration with the Brakel sports department, Tennisclub Brakel gave us the opportunity to promote pickleball in our municipality in the spring, through a series of lessons in the sports hall,” says pickleball coach Peter Haegeman. “This initiation was fully booked quite quickly. For the time being, we are still emphasizing the recreational character, although it is possible to launch this competitively in the near future. The intention is to put our region on the pickleball map, because for the time being most clubs are located in the provinces of Limburg and Walloon Brabant. It would be a first to be the first to launch a full-fledged pickleball club in the Flemish Ardennes.”
Mix
Pickleball is a mixture of tennis, badminton, paddle and table tennis. Still, pickleball was able to establish itself as a new sport. This is partly because it is very easy to learn. (Read more below the photo)

Thanks to the low threshold, anyone can get in just like that, at all ages and regardless of gender. Pickleball does not require excessive effort and is therefore less susceptible to injury.
