2022 Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) has reached the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Cleveland without a fight after her number five seeded opponent Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine) withdrew from the tournament. In the round of eight, the 36-year-old now meets Canadian Leylah Fernandez, who was in the final of the US Open in 2021.
The reason for the withdrawal of the world number 28. is currently unknown. In the first round, the 26-year-old clearly defeated the Bulgarian Ana Bogdan 6: 2, 6: 2.
