Steven Berghuis may be able to make a transfer to the champion of Belgium in August. According to reporter Talip Can see Mark van Bommel and Marc Overmars the Dutch international, who played in the youth academy of FC Twente, would like to come.
“Van Bommel and Overmars have been mobilized to bring Berghuis to Antwerp”, writes Can. It remains to be seen whether the people of Antwerp will actually press ahead. Van Bommel tried to get Berghuis to his clubs before in his trainer career.
In 2019 he tried to tempt the creative into a transfer from Feyenoord to PSV. He also made another attempt two years later as coach of Wolfsburg, but then the midfielder opted for Marc Overmars’ Ajax.
Update: VI also reports that the ‘Ajax snowball’ is finally rolling. “A departure from Davy Klaassen is no longer excluded and it is currently not a foregone conclusion that Steven Berghuis will remain loyal to Ajax this summer.”
