Stefanos Tsitsipas Drops Out of Top 5 in Latest ATP Rankings; Popyrin and Purcell Make Big Jumps

Stefanos Tsitsipas came out of the top 5. The Greek, finalist at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 in 2022, suffered from his premature elimination in the eighth this year and is now in seventh place, his lowest ranking for a year.

In front of him, the gap has narrowed between Carlos Alcaraz (n°1) and Novak Djokovic (n°2). Respectively finalist and winner in Cincinnati, the two men are only separated by twenty points in the ATP rankings. Djokovic could become world No. 1 again after the US Open (August 28-September 10), Alcaraz having to defend a lot of points after his coronation at Flushing Meadows in 2022, while the Serb had not participated.

Popyrin and Purcell go up

Among the best progressions of the week, Alexei Popyrin and Max Purcell gained eighteen and twenty-three places. The two Australians, quarter-finalists in Cincinnati, both enter the top 50 and reach their best career rankings, Popyrin now 40th and Purcell 47th.

Adrian Mannarino took advantage of his quarter-final in the American Masters 1000 to gain nine places and find himself 23rd. At 35, he is approaching his best career ranking (22nd in 2018). He is still followed by Ugo Humbert (31st) and Arthur Fils (48th) on the French side.
