QUEENS,New York,-The Mets’ Starling Marte was activated from the disabled list before Friday’s game against the Orioles in Baltimore.

Marte, 34, born in Santo Domingo, has been out since July 16 after dealing with migraines.

To make room for Marte, the Mets sent Panamanian infielder Jonathan Arauz to Triple-A with Syracuse.

“There’s no real reason why they occur,” Marte said through an interpreter. “They just know that I suffer from migraines. I have a history of migraines, so it can happen anytime: when I’m driving, right when I wake up, when I’m out here in the field. Now I only know that it is possible to be waiting for it.

Buck Showalter told reporters before the game that he is “hopeful” that both Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte can return.

Nimmo was dropped from Tuesday’s lineup after experiencing quadriceps strain during batting practice.

It has missed each of the last two days and is listed as day to day.

Marte has been on the disabled list since July 17 with a migraine problem. He was first eligible to return Tuesday, but wasn’t ready to do so yet.

Although Mars’s symptoms persist, she experienced a migraine as recently as this week, received a second opinion, and now has medication available when the headaches occur.

The player told reporters on Thursday that he has been feeling much better compared to previous weeks.
