Sports Associations in Pithiviers Offer Trial Sessions to Break Financial Barriers

On the initiative of the sports department of the town of Pithiviers, in conjunction with local sports clubs, nine sports associations (handball, karate, football, table tennis, badminton, chess, rugby, taekwondo and archery) are offering trial sessions this week.

Cost shouldn’t be a barrier

Since 2016, these initiatives have been successful since about forty young people come to each of these days organized according to the availability of educators. Before the forum of associations, at the beginning of September, they constitute a beginning of research or the occasion of a choice for the young people in search of sporting activities from the start of the school year.

In addition to these trial sports sessions, all the associations offer to discover their activities without obligation during the start of the sports season. “Financial aspects should not be a hindrance to sporting activity,” says Aurélie Godefroy of the city’s sports department. Indeed, under certain income conditions, the Sport Pass, an allowance of 50 euros for young people aged 6-17, and the Yep’s, support from the Region of 20 euros for 15-25 year olds, without means test , considerably reduce the financial contribution of families to the sports activities of their young people.

Practical. Last trial sports sessions, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: today, at the Joinville gymnasium, badminton, chess and rugby; tomorrow, at the Saint-Aignan gymnasium, taekwondo and archery. Forum des associations, Saturday September 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., village hall of Pithiviers.
