South Korea and Taipei Dominate in World Cup Archery Finals, Italy Falls Short

Paris, August 17. – At the end of the third day of competition of the fourth stage of the world cup in Paris, the blue formations stop in the round of 16 and the quarterfinals. To make the longest journey to Italy was Marcella Tonioli, who overtook Snak Nisi (Bra) in the playoff 140-140 (10-8), Oh (Kor) with another shoot-off 146-146 (9+-9), Prieels (Bel) 143-142 and finally, in the quarterfinals, she was stopped by Gellenthien (Den) 140-142. The Danish will play the semifinal on Saturday with Lopez (Col), while on the other side of the scoreboard there will be Vennam (Ind) and Gibson (Ind). Rookie Francesca Aloisi stopped in the 32nd against Chen (Tpe) 135-144 and the same fate befell Sara Ret, overtaken by Quintero (Mex) 144-140, while Elisa Roner first beat Loh (Sgp) 145-143 then she was beaten by Huang (Tpe) 144-147. In the men’s derby the blue at the 32nd saw the victory of Jesse Sut over Michea Godano 147-144. Sut was then stopped by Jawkar 144-147. Heincz (Sui)-Becerra (Mex) and Pizarro (Pur)-Busansky (Svk) will compete in the semifinal on Saturday. The mixed team recurve and compound preliminaries will be held tomorrow in the morning. In the afternoon, the individual eliminations of the recurve which will see all the Azzurri compete with the exception of Alessandro Paoli, eliminated yesterday in the first round.
